Thursday 28 September 5 - 6:30pm: your last chance to secure a space!!
With only 10% of the UK landscape having been built on, our countryside constantly needs managing and caring for, and there are many careers available working within our great outdoors. Sam feels his course at Merrist Wood College has prepared him well for his next step:
“The course prepares you for working life in the industry, with all management units requiring you to conduct an ecological survey as well as an abiotic and chemical survey. The course gives you the opportunity to practice practical skills and getting a NPTC qualifications for machinery.”
With a 400 acre outside classroom complete with woodlands, wetlands, grasslands, and a fully functioning farm, Merrist Wood College is perfect for studying countryside management. Indeed, Sam notes on the benefit of the extensive facilities:
“The best factor on my course is how ‘hands-on’ you are in the environment and you see your positive influence in the environment, after your practicals.”
Students, like Sam, studying countryside management benefit from an exciting and diverse range of modules from ecology and estate skills to greenwood crafts and coastal management. With the college’s excellent reputation and industry partnerships, many former students have gone on to work for local and national organisations.
