Do you want to start your own beauty business or work in an exclusive salon or spa?
Every year, we successfully train many students in becoming fully-qualified beauty therapists. By choosing a career in this industry, you will have the opportunity to combine creativity with customer care; helping people to look and feel great. Beauty therapists are specialists in discussing and understanding client requirements, analysing, and advising on skincare and beauty regimes, giving treatments, and applying cosmetics.
On this Level 3 course you will be supported by expert beauty tutors in gaining professional, hands-on training experience with real clients. You will also develop confidence and customer service skills within an industry-standard salon.
We will help you develop the skills you need to work in the beauty therapy industry, including:
- Client care and communication skills
- Working as part of a team
- Maintaining health and safety and carrying out risk assessments
- Promoting products
- Maintaining professional standards
- Time management
Upon successful completion, you will be in a position to start work or progress to further studies.
What you'll learn
You will develop your skills in massage techniques including:
- Swedish massage
- Indian head massage
- reflexology and aromatherapy
- learn new techniques in facial and body electics
- non-surgical face-lifts
- microdermabrasion
- depilation
- electrolysis
In addition you will be taught body massage, improving the face and body with electrotherapy, and providing electrical epilation.
Throughout the course you will run commercial salons at the college to maintain your Level 2 skills. From your work placement you will learn about supervising, salon management, and also salon finance and business management.
You will learn from experienced staff in our modern salons using the latest equipment. You will observe demonstrations and learn through student participation to develop practical skills and competency. You will develop your knowledge through e-learning systems and by traditional teaching methods.

There is a requirement for you to work a minimum of one day per week in a relevant work placement.
You will be assessed continually throughout the year.
This will include:
- online exams
- practical assessments
- written assignments
- case studies
- a portfolio of evidence and work
A minimum of 85% attendance is required by the Examining Board and the college for successful completion of the qualification.
Entry requirements
You need to have a level 2 Beauty Therapy Diploma and four or more GCSEs at grade 4 or above including English. Working towards Grade 4 in maths.
