We have joined forces with Banbury United FC to launch a new Football Academy. This one year programme is designed for anyone passionate about pursuing a career in football or sport. Students will be guided on their journey as they prepare for a future in football or beyond.
The Football Academy is open to anyone of any ability. The only requirement is an interest and passion in football. Through it, you will improve your knowledge in a range of sports science topics while also developing both your coaching and playing skills.
What you'll learn
This football diploma covers the following football-related subjects: physiology, nutrition, psychology, coaching, fitness testing and training.
You will improve your knowledge in a range of sports science topics while also developing both your coaching and playing skills.
You will develop self-confidence teamwork and organisation skills. You will be expected to demonstrate an ability to manage your time effectively and be responsible for the football club environment in which you are based.
You will also develop your ability to produce professional documents such as letters and reports and to deliver presentations.
The course gives you the chance to study for the Level 1 Certificate in Coaching Football too, which incorporates emergency response first aid and the safeguarding children workshop.
How you'll learn and be assessed
Within your full-time timetable you will complete a minimum of 12 hours per week of professional coaching and/or football related activities. This includes participation in one of our representative teams. The BTEC Diploma in Sport is coursework based and you will need to complete all six units.
The coaching content of the programme requires you to complete a significant number of hours within the structure of Banbury United FC outside normal timetabled hours.
You learn through practical participation on the coaching field supplemented by classroom delivery.
Group work and portfolio building are regular activities throughout the programme linking your practical participation to theory.
This is a combination of Football and Learning. Successful learners can progress to the Level 3 programme and continue to develop their football education.
You will complete six units to gain the BTEC Level 2 Diploma in Sport and you’ll complete a portfolio of evidence to gain the NVQ in Coaching Teaching and Instructing.
The Level 1 Certificate in Coaching Football is assessed by a practical coaching session and an additional portfolio.
