Creative Media Production at Banbury and Bicester College is exciting, practical and industry-focused on film and television.

This is an ideal programme if you wish to learn more about media production and are interested in making and studying through a practical approach.

The course focuses on creating media products, from concept, planning and development, through to filming and editing. You will develop skills in camerawork, lighting, sound recording and video editing. This will be underpinned by the study and analysis of existing media products, to gain understanding and inspiration. You will develop a portfolio that showcases your knowledge, skills and abilities.

You’ll be taught by industry-trained, expert practitioners within our extensive specialist Makerspace facilities housing a variety of professional facilities, including:

  • HD TV studio
  • Cinema screening room
  • Multiple Apple Mac suites
  • Access to Adobe Creative Cloud software

 

Each year, our students also have the opportunity to take part in our End of Year Festival to showcase their work. Take a look at our video of the 2019 show, “Arrival”. 

This course is the UAL Level 3 Diploma and Extended Diploma in Creative Media Production and Technology.

Working with the UAL Awarding Body allows us to offer our students a bespoke pre-university course, specialising in your area of interest. You can choose to keep your studies broad with the Creative Media Production and Technology route or specialise in Film and TV Production.

Each year culminates in a final major project, where you get to select your topic and creative outcome. This will determine your final grade for the year (Pass/Merit/Distinction).

This course will allow you the opportunity to gain invaluable creative media production experience. Previous students have had placements at BBC Radio Oxford, ITV’s Endeavour and Modest TV.

In the first year of this course, you will study for the Diploma. Once that Diploma is successfully achieved, you will be invited to continue on to complete the full Extended Diploma in the second year of the course.

Please note: Fees will apply if you are 19+ at the beginning of your studies and have previously completed a Level 3 qualification or are 24 and above. All fees are charged on a yearly basis. Please see our Fees Policy for further details or get in touch to discuss your options!

You’ll explore, develop and test your creativity through stimulating and demanding practical exploration.

The course also incorporates relevant and exciting work-experience placements, designed to equip learners with the skills and knowledge needed to progress into employment. Previous placements have included BBC Radio Oxford and ITV’s Endeavour.To complete this course, you will be required to use a variety of skills working both in groups and individually.

The course is 100% coursework (there is no exam), featuring both written and practical assignments. This is internally assessed and externally moderated by UAL Awarding Body.

Banbury and Bicester College chosen to deliver UAL Awarding Body qualifications due to their focus on the creative arts. At the end of this two-year programme you will achieve a UAL Level 3 Extended Diploma in Creative Media Production and Technology, which is equivalent to three A levels.

Most of our students progress to higher education programmes at either degree or HND level. Many choose to specialise in a particular field once they move on to university, having experienced a range of option as part of their programme.

You need to have 4 GCSEs at Grade 4 or above including English and maths, with a keen interest and evidence in the subject (example of work).
