This course is designed to help people back into employment and is only available to those aged 19 or over on 31 Aug 2021 and are unemployed for the duration of the course.
This five-day course is the perfect introduction to bicycle mechanics. You will develop some of the key skills and understanding in building, servicing, repairing, and maintaining all types of cycles.
You will spend two days gaining hands-on experience in areas such as gear disassembly and reassembly, puncture mending, and conducting comprehensive safety checks. Alongside practical training, you will complete:
- Cytech theory one qualification (two days of self-study online)
- Employability training (one day)
This course is suitable for anyone wanting to work in the bicycle industry who wants an accredited introduction to cycle maintenance.
What you'll learn

- Rim brake removal, refitting, and adjustment

You can progress to a Level 2 Cycle Mechanics course or Cytech Level 2.
Ideally, you will already have a very basic knowledge of cycles and hand tools. This course will build on your existing cycle mechanics experiences. For example, doing basic maintenance on your own bike(s).
All tools, equipment, and PPE are provided and are in the workshop.
Please wear clothes you don’t mind getting dirty; there is a risk of getting messy while working on bikes.
