Park Gardens Retirement Village residents enjoy afternoon tea and beauty treatments at Banbury and Bicester College

Residents from Park Gardens Retirement Village enjoyed an afternoon tea and beauty treatments at Banbury and Bicester College on Tuesday 2 December as part of its Community Service Week.

Hosted by MindGreen, Activate Learning’s charitable fund dedicated to supporting the mental health and wellbeing of students and staff, across its group of colleges, the MindGreen Community Service Week casts a spotlight on the importance of community with students engaging in acts of service all week.

Gathering at the college, residents enjoyed tea, cake and mince pies served by students before being treated to hand massages and nail treatments by students on the college’s Beauty programme.

Later the group had the opportunity to get creative by painting festive decorations and clay rocks for their gardens before enjoying Christmas carols sung by the college’s High Needs learners.

Also in attendance were representatives from Banbury Larder and Cllr Fiaz Ahmed from Banbury Town Council.

Amanda Cherry, Head of Student Experience at Banbury and Bicester College, said: “It was brilliant to welcome residents from Park Gardens Retirement Village to Banbury and Bicester College.

“It was inspiring to see our students connecting with local people with such warmth and enthusiasm. Events like this serve as a powerful way to give back to the community.”
