Inspiring the next generation at Girls in STEM Day

Students from primary schools across Oxfordshire visited Banbury and Bicester College today to celebrate Girls in STEM Day.  

Over 150 students in years 7, 8 and 9 visited Activate Learning’s Banbury campus, including students from Futures Institute Banbury, Whitelands Academy, The Bicester School and The Cooper School.  

Split into smaller groups, the students enjoyed a series of inspirational talks, interactive workshops and hands-on activities by STEM industry speakers

Discovering the variety of careers in STEM

Sam Starvis, Head of Campus – Student Experience at Banbury and Bicester College said: “It was a pleasure to host students from across Oxfordshire for the Girls in STEM Day. 

The students really appreciated the insight into industry and many left feeling inspired to have their own careers in STEM.   

“A huge thank you to all our industry speakers, who brought this day to life with their knowledge and enthusiasm.”

Industry insight from female STEM leaders and experts

Throughout the day, they got to learn more about a career in STEM from female experts and leaders.  

This included representatives from Activate Learning, IBM, Fujitsu, Thames Valley Police, Laing O’Rourke, Dig Data, Indigo Tree Digital, University of Birmingham, UK Health Security Agency, Amazon Web Services (AWS), Third Kind Games and TechSheCan.
