Amateur boxers, Chris and Johnny Taylor, visited Banbury and Bicester College on Tuesday 18 November as part of National Care Leavers’ Month.
Chris and Johnny, who are twins, were fostered as teenagers and have gone on to become successful amateur boxers.
The twins both train at Banbury Boxing Club, and one of them, Chris Taylor, has represented England and competed in two national finals, placing him in the top two in the country for amateur boxing.
His twin Johnny has competed in 30 fights and reached the semi-finals at a national level, putting him in the top three in the country.
On visiting the college as part of National Care Leavers’ Month, the pair spoke to students about their experience with the care system, the challenges they faced and the support that was available to them on leaving the care system.

They also noted boxing as having given them a sense of direction and ambition, before giving the students a lesson.
Elle-Mae Conner, Transition and Retention Adviser at Banbury and Bicester College, said: “It was fantastic to have Chris and Johnny Taylor visit to speak to students about their experience of the care system, and it’s inspiring to see a pair of care leavers making such a success of their chosen path in life.”
National Care Leavers’ Month recognises and celebrates the resilience, achievements, and experiences of young people who have been in care.
The 2025 theme is ‘Rising as Me: Overcoming challenges, transforming, and finding your identity’.
