It’s Football Shirt Friday this week! Help us raise money for Cancer Research UK

This Friday (19 November) staff and students from the sports department are inviting colleagues and students across the Activate Learning Group to join them in wearing their favourite football team’s shirt.

The annual event, organised by the Bobby Moore Fund, raises funds to support Cancer Research UK.

The Bobby Moore Fund for Cancer Research UK was set up by Stephanie Moore MBE in memory of her husband Bobby Moore, who was 51 when he passed away from bowel cancer. The fund focuses on raising money to fund pioneering bowel cancer research.

Teachers and students have a £100 target, which they are aiming to surpass.

Ben Wright, Sports Tutor at City of Oxford College, said: ”This is an event we have been running over the last four years and year-on-year it has grown in popularity.

“We have a lot of fun seeing the varied teams’ students and staff support, it tends to be a great conversation starter and helps spread awareness of the Bobby Moore fund and the fantastic research they do on bowel cancer.”

Every donation can make a difference in tackling Bowel cancer, the fourth most common cancer in the UK.

If you’d like to get involved, you can donate to the cause via the Activate Learning Fundraise page for Football Shirt Friday. You can also join in the conversation on social media by sharing a photo wearing your shirt with pride and using the hashtag #FootballShirtFriday.
